Lost Tribe Esports

Engaging teens in Jewish life and identity through digital media and the community of gaming.

Exploring new frontiers for building community? That’s the bread and butter of Lost Tribe Esports, an organization that helps engage Jewish youth, teens, and young adults in digital spaces by tapping into their passion for video games, new media, and youth culture. Working with industry leaders in the esports gaming and communications media spaces, Lost Tribe incorporates Jewish values and customs including Tzedakah, engagement with Israel, and the Jewish holidays into gaming experiences that have engaged thousands of youth in North America and around the world. By meeting Jewish young people where they already are and tapping into the exponential growth in online gaming, especially during the pandemic, Lost Tribe is deepening Jewish connections and social engagement. When teens participate in Lost Tribe, they discover a safe, vibrant home base, where they connect with Jewish peers, build a new appreciation for the Jewish community, and cultivate a life-long relationship with Judaism that resonates with their passions.

Lost Tribe also develops innovative Jewish educational programming for 8-12-year-olds using the popular world-building game, Minecraft. Counselor-led, virtual sessions offered after school and during school breaks immerse children in a collaborative, creative environment where they build, play Jewish holiday-themed games, and explore virtual recreations of Israeli landmarks, like the Kotel, Masada, and the shuk.

Since its launch in January 2019, Lost Tribe has engaged over 15,000 Jewish teens through online and in-person gaming to strengthen their Jewish identities, tap into their creativity, and enrich their lives.
